
Amangwane is situated only a short distance from the entrance gate to the Kosi Mouth, the latter which is accessible only by 4x4 vehicle. Drive up to the view point to get a good view of this intricate lake system. Boat trips and kayaking form the bulk of the activities on offer.
The canvas huts are reed enclosed and each comprise of 2 single beds with en suite bathroom. Hot and cold running water is available, as well as a generator to power the lights and limited plug points. Your stay will be on a full board basis and the meals will be typically South African and consisting of barbeques, beef stews and of course fresh seafood. Meals are enjoyed either around the campfire or under the covered lapa area, which also features a bar.
Amangwane is a community owned camp and you are sure to come across co-owner Elmon Mkhonto during your stay. His family has been living in the area for decades and he will gladly take you under his wing and explain the intricacies of fish trap making. Snorkelling is very popular – Kosi Bay is touted as one of the top 10 snorkelling sites in Africa! Other activities include canoeing, elephant safaris in Tembe Elephant Park, fishing and walking trails.
