The point is that Anjajavy is not just another luxury seaside resort. There's a large protected area of dwindling dry forest that is positively teeming with wildlife. See brown lemurs, love-birds, birds of paradise and plenty of chameleons - to name only a few.

There's also a limestone cave complete with impressive stalagmites and stalactites - home to innumerable leaf-nosed bats. Another cave has the skulls of extinct lemur species embedded into the rocks!
