Djuma Private Game Reserve is situated in the prestigious Sabi Sands Game Reserve and shares an unfenced border with the Kruger National Park. Game roam freely through this magnificent ecosystem and you will find some of the best game viewing Africa has to offer.
Djuma consists of three camps: Bush Lodge provides thatched accommodation in the form of 8 chalets set into the indigenous gardens. You will find all modern amenities such as air conditioning, mosquito nets and telephones. Vuyatela, meaning ‘come and visit again’, has broken the mould of your typical game lodge with its bright and funky atmosphere. This lodge has a unique identity which is evident in the fusion of African architecture and the use of natural materials. The 8 rooms feature elegant four poster beds, spa baths, outside showers and private plunge pools.
Galago Camp is ideal for families or groups of friends travelling together. It consists of 5 en suite bedrooms and your stay is on a self catering basis, giving you the freedom to tailor make your own bush experience. A private chef can be hired at an additional charge to prepare your meals, using the ingredients you provide.
Activities include morning and afternoon game drives – you will be escorted by a tracker and ranger in search of Africa’s Big 5. Survey the landscape as you wind your way through the reserve – sundowner drinks will be enjoyed on the evening drives. You can also partake in a nature walk after breakfast to get a closer understanding of the flora and fauna endemic to the region.
Village visits can be arranged – Djuma is committed to and actively involved in the local communities. The Buffelshoek Community Trust has been established to provide, amongst others, the building of classrooms and creches, fresh drinking water and a daily meal for about 3000 school children in the immediate area. On the conservation front, Djuma has been accredited by Fair Trade in Tourism South Africa for its efforts to aid recycling, reduce wastage and minimise polution.
