Guludo Beach Lodge is a tropical, barefoot paradise situated on the mainland of northern Mozambique. This particular beach was declared one of the top 20 deserted beaches in the world by The Observer! From the moment you step off your veranda, you will understand why.
The lodge was built in a mix of traditional and contemporary styles and with the highest regard for environmental and social integrity. When to go
The best time to travel to the Quirimbas is during the winter months from May to September. This is when the rainfall is at its lowest and the temperatures are milder, as opposed to the hot and humid conditions that characterise the summers. However, the best time to travel for diving enthusiasts is February to April, which brings clear, warm waters and excellent visibility.

The Nema Foundation was established by the owners of Guludo in order to fulfil their social responsibility objectives in the local community. It has achieved, amongst other things, feeding 550 children one nutritious school meal every day, as well as providing clean water for over 12,000 people, which goes to show that they really do care. Nema is also run by members of the community, establishing ownership for the various projects they undertake.
Healthcare and the supply of clean drinking water for all are major challenges in Africa. Mismanagement of local water supplies can lead to these sources becoming contaminated by water borne diseases, which worsens the plight of these already poor people. Guludo has set up water committees, which receive training on how to manage the water supply, diminish the prevalence of water borne diseases and on Mozambican water policy in general. Once again, people from the local community are taking ownership and held accountable for their water points.
Malaria is the number one killer of children in Mozambique – as many as 125 children die from malaria each day, a staggering statistic. Child mortality can be significantly reduced by distributing mosquito nets treated with insecticide. These nets are made available mainly to pregnant women, or those with children under the age of 5 years. In the past 2 years, Nema has distributed over 4,000 nets to women in the local villages.
Your stay at Guludo includes a donation to the Nema foundation – make a difference!
