Kirkman’s Kamp

Kirkman's Kamp l South Africa l Lounge

This gem of a find is located in the heart of one of South Africa's most prestigious reserves, the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, renowned for having the best Big 5 game viewing in the country.

Thanks to the 65,000-hectare reserve sitting on highly enriched soil - perfect for grazing and browsing habitats - spotting the solitary leopard and majestic lions roaming the grounds here is more common than one might imagine.

Accommodation at Kirkman's Kamp is just as impressive, offering spectacular views as far as the eye can see. Widely regarded within the travel community as one of the best-loved lodges in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, its 18 cottages offer a throwback to the 1920s when colonial luxury and gracious style met to satisfy the most discerning of travellers.

One particular room that stands out at the lodge is its large sitting area, which has a 1920s ambience about it. Plush overstuffed sofas are set against pristine whitewashed walls where an open, crackling fireplace exudes cheerful warmth, inviting a good post-dinner sit-down read or evening chat.

However, the undisputed highlight of Kirkman's Kamp has to be its spectacular location, which borders the Kruger National Park. It is at this park that restricting fences are done away with so animals can roam freely just as nature intended.
