MalaMala Game Reserve/Kuger National Park. MalaMala Game Reserve shares an unfenced border with Kruger National Park and sees animal herds migrating regularly to the Sand River.
Guests have a choice of three camps at MalaMala, each with its own brand of bushland hospitality. The Main Camp has been located at the same site since 1930 and today offers 18 thatched bungalows with no more than 36 guests at a time, ensuring a quality experience. Every guestroom is air-conditioned, with insect-proof screens, and enjoys a stunning view of the surrounding landscape.
At the southern end of the MalaMala Camp, Sable Camp offers a more private experience. With only five luxury suites and the two-bedroom Lions Den, it never has more than 14 guests. From the large wooden deck surrounding the camp, there's a clear view of the bush on all sides, while the outdoor pool and cosy safari bar provide restful alternatives for guests between the exhilarating game drives.
The most exclusive of accommodations on the reserve is Rattray's on MalaMala, with just eight plush and spacious suites nestled on an elevated location overlooking the Sand River. Every suite has its own plunge pool, garden and outdoor dining area, giving ample opportunity to soak up the sights and sounds of the reserve and its incredibly diverse wildlife from the comfort of their own lodgings.
