Onguma Safari Camps

Onguma Safari Camps

Onguma Safari Camps are based on Etosha’s eastern side, close to the Namutoni Gate and Fisher’s Pan. The collection of lodges offers something for everyone, from the family friendly Bush Camp to more intimate and exclusive game experiences at Onguma Tented Camp.

The camps are situated on the 20,000 ha Onguma Nature Reserve, which hosts a variety of animals such as kudu, giraffe and oryx, with sightings of lion, leopard and cheetah being plentiful in the area. A recent addition to the reserve is a family of endangered black rhino! Game drives are enjoyed in the Onguma Game Reserve, and nature drives into Etosha is also offered. Position yourself next to one of the waterholes and simply watch the large mammals interact as they carry on with their daily routines. Birding is also fantastic, especially after the rains and when the pan is full of water, marvel at the pink spectacle that is the large flocks of flamingos gracing the area.

Additional Information

Onguma Bush Camp consists of 6 comfortable stone and thatch bungalows and 1 family room. Bush Camp is child friendly and the perfect base for exploring Etosha and introducing your children to the wild. Take a picnic basket and enjoy lunch in the park. Onguma Tented camp is the latest addition to the portfolio, exuding elegance and timeless chic in an intimate setting. Offering only 7 luxury stone and canvas tents, Onguma truly lives up to it’s name, which means ‘The Place you wouldn’t want to Leave’ in the local Herero language. Unfortunately no under 12’s allowed.

Onguma Treetop Camp is a place to experience the bush in all its raw splendour – the entire camp is built on wooden stilts and walkways link the 4 bedrooms to the main area. The bonus is that Treetop Camp looks out over one of the best waterholes in the reserve – simply sit back and enjoy the sights of animals coming to drink.

Onguma – The Fort is certainly one of a kind in Namibia, offering spectacular sunsets over a landscape littered with camelthorn trees. The Fort is built in a distinct African style, with hints of a Moroccan and Indian influence. The 12 suites are luxuriously appointed and set about 50m apart, ensuring the optimum in privacy for all guests. Enjoy features such as air conditioning and outside showers to make your stay extra special.
