Porini Rhino Camp is situated in the Ol Peteja Conservancy situated between the Aberdares and the majestic Mount Kenya. The 90,000 acre wildlife conservancy boasts the Big 5, and most notably the endangered black rhino. About two-thirds of the conservancy is reserved exclusively for 4x4 safari vehicles and small eco-camps such as Porini Rhino Camp, meaning that your game drives are very exclusive and you’re not likely to run into a myriad of other game vehicles as you do in other parts of Kenya. Ol Peteja is also home to a sanctuary for rescued chimpanzees.
The Camp
Porini Rhino Camp and Ol Peteja Conservancy offer stunning views across the open plains. The camp is situated in a secluded valley on the banks of a seasonal river. Six spacious guest tents are set amongst shady acacia trees, each comfortably furnished with en suite bathrooms. Lighting is solar powered and there is no generator, making the camp environmentally friendly.
The Experience
Enjoy morning, afternoon and evening game drives in open 4x4 safari vehicles – your experienced guide will fill you in on the fauna and flora in the conservancy. All of the Big 5 are present in the conservancy, and most notably the endangered black rhino, which tends to be aggressive and are known to charge!
