Rhino Post Safari Lodge

Rhino Post l Plains Camp

Rhino Post Safari Lodge is a small and intimate lodge situated on a 12,000 ha private concession within the famous Kruger National Park in South Africa. The concession shares unfenced borders with Mala Mala and Sabi Sands, ensuring excellent game viewing of the Big 5, and cats in particular.

The lodge was built with the minimum impact on the environment: only natural materials were used and raised walkways ensure that the natural vegetation isn’t disturbed. The 8 bedrooms are spacious and comfortably furnished – enjoy the outdoor shower or relax with a drink on the patio, which overlooks the riverbed. The central facility overlooks a busy waterhole – enjoy the views with a drink from the bar, or choose a bottle of wine from the cellar. Cosy fireplaces will keep you warm in the winter months.

Plains Camp is Rhino Post’s satellite camp specialising in game walks and can easily be reached within 30 minutes. Departures from Rhino Post to Plains Camp take place three times per week (optional) so depending on your day of arrival, you may have to spend a night or two at Rhino Post before transferring to Plains Camp. Plains Camp consists of 4 luxury tents built on raised platforms and again, only natural materials were used during its construction. This is the perfect base for your walking safari – go out twice daily with an experienced ranger and track rhino and elephant, amongst others. The duration and pace of the walk will depend on the fitness of the guests - game drives are also offered.

The highlight of your stay will undoubtedly be the sleepouts – spend a night in a complete wilderness environment, sleeping on raised platforms and being completely exposed to the sights and sounds of Africa! Guests usually arrive by late afternoon and enjoy a sundowner drink while dinner is prepared. Enjoy a night under the stars before returning to Plains Camp the following morning. Sleepouts are usually offered from Plains Camp but can be done directly from Rhino Post, by prior arrangement.
