The Haven

The Haven | Uganda

Tranquil, idyllic, luxurious, the Haven is a new eco-lodge set on the banks of the River Nile about 30km into its 6,650km journey from Lake Victoria to the Mediterranean. Built in conjunction with the local community, the lodge features water harvesting techniques and solar power to ensure self-sufficiency and minimise impact on the environment (no humming generators!).

The seven bandas (cottages) are spread along the banks of the Nile, each with a glorious view over the gently flowing waters on their way to a small waterfall much favoured by local white-water rafting enthusiasts. Nature abounds with the call of the fish eagle and the chattering of Colobus Monkeys among the soft sounds to greet you on waking.

Additional Information

The four Luxury bungalows are spacious en suite Twin/Double Bungalows, with a cosy reading area. Each has a single and double bed inside. The shower has hot running water and offers stunning views of the rapid. It has its very own private shaded terrace with a swinging couch and great view overlooking the river and rapid. Built-in safe, Mosquito nets, linen and towels are provided.

With a reputation among the locals for the best restaurant in Jinja, the chefs at The Haven will ensure you are well fed, and the bar stocks a good range of cold drinks and South African wine.

There are a number of facilities on site including a volleyball net on the lawn, badminton and soccer.
