The Vineyard Hotel & Spa/Cape Town. This establishment in the peaceful Cape Town suburb of Newlands offers guests a rewarding intersection of history, nature, ceonvenience, and luxury. The property comprises 2.5 hectares of immaculately landscaped greenery and is situated on the banks of the Liesbeeck River, within 10 minutes of the V&A Waterfront and Cape Town city centre.
Each room at the Vineyard is positioned to enjoy a carefully cultivated view on the location's natural sights, and has a full complement of modern amenities such as free high-speed internet access, satellite television, mini bars, and wall safes. The lovely Courtyard rooms overlook a Japanese-inspired garden with water features and delicate tree ferns, or you may choose to splash out in one of the suites, which are immaculately furnished and enjoy views of the lush gardens.
If the lush parkland grounds, sumptuous cuisine and soothing water features were not enough in the way of relaxation, the Vineyard's Angsana Spa is guaranteed to take all one's troubles away. The Angsana Spa is owned and operated by the world-renowned Banyan Tree group - you are sure to find a treatment that will soothe and restore calm.
The hotel has been owned by the Petousis family since they realised the area’s potential in 1980 and the owners and staff are committed to social responsibility and making a difference. Hence it’s no surprise that The Vineyard Hotel & Spa won the 2006 Imvelo Award for ‘Best Economic Impact’ and was also a finalist in the category ‘Best Social Responsibility Programme’ in the same year.
The hotel is involved in many community projects, the most notable being the Kids with HIV Foundation, which it rigorously supports in the form of hosting their charity events and sponsoring a number of projects at the foundation. The foundation is geared mainly towards supporting, educating and assisting infants and children who suffer as a direct result of HIV, be it due to the effects of mother to child transmission during pregnancy or another, more direct method of transmission as youngsters.
The environmental initiatives are equally important and as impressive. The garden team only uses organic compost and water comes from a borehole, which contributes immensely to the water conservation efforts. Water saving shower heads have also been installed in the rooms. Energy conservation comes in the form of energy saving light bulbs, which are used wherever possible throughout the hotel. Hot water pipes and heat pumps have also been insulated to prevent energy loss.
