Tswalu Kalahari Reserve

Tswalu Kalahari Reserve

Tswalu Kalahari Reserve/Northern Cape. Located in the wide open reaches of the Northern Cape, the Kalahari is an expanse of red and white sands that is home to an amazing array of fauna and flora.

In the heart of this spectacular landscape sits Tswalu Kalahari Reserve. Covering a sweeping 100,000 hectares, it allows guests the rare chance to view wildlife in their natural habitat.

Tswalu means 'new beginning' in the Tswana language, and Tswalu Kalahari Reserve certainly opens up new vistas of possibility in safari travel. Providing luxurious accommodation while still remaining firmly committed to conservation efforts in this protected area, Tswalu is certainly a model for eco-tourism in our green-conscious times.

Tswalu is ideal for small groups and families. The Motse is a close-knit cluster of eight legaes or suites, and the entire cluster can comfortably accommodate a maximum of 20 people. Six of the legaes are for two guests each, while two legaes were especially designed with families in mind, each accommodating up to four people. Walls are uniquely made from fine, compacted desert sand, and roofs are thatched to blend in with the surroundings. Each legae overlooks the reserve's main watering hole, which at certain times of the day and night, teems with wild animals and birds. For total exclusivity, look to Tarkuni. Available for a maximum of 12 people, this lodge comprises six beautiful bedrooms, a lounge, dining room, patio and heated outdoor pool.
