Umkhumbi Lodge l Kwazulu Natal l Bedroom

Found in the heart of Zululand, the charming town of Hluhluwe is known for its famous game reserve – the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve – the oldest game reserve in Africa. Once smaller and separated, this 96 000 hectare game reserve is internationally acclaimed for its conservation efforts. Waterholes are dotted around the park for guaranteed wildlife spotting at close range. Characterised by hilly landscapes, the park is noted for its diverse plant life which gives rise to a host of bird and wildlife in the park.

Umkhumbi Lodge comprises of 12 rooms, which can be made up as doubles or twins and are interleading, making them perfect for families. The accommodation is comfortable and the furnishings brand new – each room has an outdoor verandah where you can enjoy a drink and listen to the sounds of the bush. The central area or lapa comprises of 2 levels – meals are served on the bottom level, and from the top floor, enjoy amazing views over the plains beyond.

From the lodge you can enjoy game drives to either Hluhluwe-Umfolozi or Mkuze Game Reserve, while Ndumo Game Reserve has rightly earned its reputation as one of the best birding spots in South Africa. Visit the Tembe Elephant Park, enjoy a scenic flight over the wetlands or snorkel at nearby Sodwana Bay.
