Virunga Lodge is situated about 1 hour from the park headquarters and occupies an enviable position overlooking the Virunga Mountains, as well as the twin lakes of Ruhondo and Burero. The lodge is situated in stunning terraced gardens and comprises of 8 bandas, each with magical views of the lakes and volcanoes from your private verandah. The rooms are spacious and wooden floors and high ceilings create a homely atmosphere.
There is a comfortable lounge with open fire place, which is the perfect place to relax after a long day tracking gorillas. While this is sure to be the main attraction, guests at Virunga Lodge can also track golden monkeys, climb the Bisoke volcano, visit Dian Fossey’s memorial or enjoy exploring the villages nearby. The lodge is eco-friendly and offers solar lighting, bush showers and self-composting toilets.
