Wolwedans

Wolwedans l NamibRand l Nature drive

Wolwedans is situated in NamibRand, one of Southern Africa’s largest private nature reserves and one where breathtaking vistas and incredible photographic opportunities are the order of the day. It was the dream of the owners to integrate a large number of former sheep farms so that the wildlife could once again roam their habitat unhindered. Despite the tremendous potential for more tourist development, it was decided that in theory every bed must be surrounded by 1000 hectares of nature - now and forever. This means that every guest at Wolwedans has one million square meters to themselves - a sanctuary free of tour buses and overland trucks. This luxury of space makes the reserve the pristine destination it is today.

Dune Camp is positioned on the edge of a 250m high sand dune and accommodation comes in the form of permanent tents pitched on wooden platforms to protect the fragile dune ecology. The camp sleeps a maximum of 12 guests, providing an intimate atmosphere and a very personal lodge experience.

Dune Lodge enjoys the ambience of a tented camp due to its chalets being built on wooden platforms and with roll-up canvas sides to allow nature inside. Each of the 9 chalets enjoys panoramic vistas in every direction – your private deck allows for hours spent enjoying the quiet solitude.

Boulders Camp is the latest addition to the Wolwedans Collection and offers exclusivity amongst the giant granite boulders littering the landscape. The camp offers 4 guest tents and is situated 45km south of Wolwedans. The aim here is to explore the far south of the NamibRand reserve by enjoying a combination of scenic drives and walking safaris.

Private Camp is just that – very private. It offers only 2 bedrooms, making it ideal for honeymooners or close friends to enjoy the beauty of the surrounding landscape.

Activities at Wolwedans include morning and afternoon nature drives, sundowner drives or full days spent in the park armed with only a picnic basket and your sense of adventure! Wolwedans gives you the opportunity to explore vast tracts of undisturbed wilderness, seeking out those plants and animals specially adapted for survival in this unforgiving landscape. Hot air ballooning is also popular and departs before sunrise, making for very special photographic opportunities. Scenic flights can also be enjoyed – the spectacular ochre dunes at nearby Sossusvlei provide excellent views.
