Fish River Canyon
Maybe not the deepest, but certainly the most scenic canyon in Africa, the Fish River Canyon is one of the most impressive natural features of Namibia. In places it is 550 metres deep and is 100 miles in length. The Fish River itself only runs sporadically and is reduced to a series of long, narrow pools during dry periods. However the popular flight south from Sesriem or Swakopmund will give you a wonderful bird's eye view.
If you have time and wish to self-drive to the South of the country, then you can't miss the opportunity to sit on the edge at Hobas and watch the sun set with a Gin and Tonic...
