Additional Information

By reputation the deepest in Uganda, the lake is reckoned to have formed by the closing of the valley through which the river once ran. The steep sided hills all around fall quickly into the water forming a lake with hundreds of inlets and small islands. There are no large lodges here, the accommodation tends towards small eco-lodges and camps and foremost among these is Bushara Island.

You can spend your days paddling about in a local canoe, swimming, walking in the hills with a local guide, bird-watching, or even visiting a local Batwa pygmy tribe. Visit the Bufuka Primary School and see the excellent work being done by the Edirisa Project there. In term time, you may even get a game of football with the kids!

A place to relax, wind down and spend a little time in nature…
