This is Malawi's premiere game reserve and is the best opportunity in the country to see Africa's Big 5.
A great way to watch the animals is from a boat on the Shire River on which much of the wildlife depends. Hippopotamus, elephant and crocodiles often come too close for comfort! On night drives watch for porcupines, bush babies and even spotted hyenas.
Stay within the park at the wonderful Mvuu Wilderness Camp and Lodge built on a lagoon of the Shire River. There's everything you need here from the most knowledgeable guides to a secluded swimming pool. The Camp was completely rebuilt in 2006.
At Mvuu, the river is broad and slow flowing which feeds some of Africa's most evocative vegetation - massive baobabs, tall borassus palms and thickets of fever trees making this a classic African safari experience.
