Skeleton Coast National Park

Skeleton Coast National Park

Shrouded in a dense fog and punctuated by rusting shipwrecks, it is possible to understand why early Portuguese sailors called it "The Sands of Hell". Once stranded on the sands, the fate of the ship's crew was sealed.

These days, protected as a national park and comprising of over 2 million hectares of sand, you still need to take precautions when travelling through.  The shipwrecks are not quite as impressive as they used to be, and fortunately there hasn't been one in a while.  But to stand on the coast and look out to sea, inland, and up and down the coast, you wouldn't want to have found yourself stranded here a hundred years ago!

For the less intrepid, why not organise a scenic flight from Swakopmund over the Skeleton Coast and get a real sense of the terrain from the air.  Mention it in your enquiry...
