The Kruger National Park is one of Africa's Top safari destinations. Similar in size to Wales or Switzerland, this huge protected area plays host to big game safari in all its glory. Great prides of lion roam the savannah in search of prey, while large elephant herds move in to the waterholes to drink, cool down and play in the mud. You might come across an aggressive buffalo bull on the rampage, a majestic 'journey' of giraffes feeding on the thorny acacia trees, hippos wallowing in the Sabie River, and if you are lucky you might even find a leopard dragging his kill up the knarled branch of an ancient fig-tree.
Your safari in Kruger will be characterised by unspoilt wilderness, great density and diversity of game and some of the most luxurious bush retreats to be found anywhere.
Those who prefer to travel under their own steam can stay at the decent National Park restcamps inside the park. But for the ultimate safari experience, why not head for one of the private concessions that border the park's western boundary. The most famous is the Sabi Sands where the viewing of Big Cats is unrivalled, or try Lukimbi - on a private concession within the park's boundaries.
Whichever way you chose to experience the Kruger Park, you will leave completely refreshed, having enjoyed a Kruger National Park safari experience full of wildlife sightings in a wilderness that's almost certain to tempt you into returning…
