Namibia

Namibia – land of contrasts. So many reasons to visit: Stunning ever-changing vistas; huge open wilderness areas; intimate owner-run camps and lodges in amazing locations; unbelievable sunsets: the list is about as endless as the grains of sand in the Namib!
A magnificent self-drive destination, Namibia offers diversity both in landscape and people. Watch the sun rise from the top of the world’s largest dunes. Gallop across savannah on horseback. Share stories around a crackling camp fire and sleep out under the stars, or simply relax into the hospitality of extraordinary homesteads and lodges.

Top Tips
- For game viewing, Etosha NP is one of Africa’s premier national parks. Here, you have an excellent chance to see the big five and much more. The key advantage is that that during dry periods – of which there are many, the wildlife comes to you at the waterholes in search of a drink. The accommodation and facilities are located within the park meaning you are well placed to spend the best times of day– dawn and dusk, watching rather than driving.
- A highlight of any Namibia experience will be a visit to the Namib-Naukluft desert sand dunes around Sossusvlei and Deadvlei. Clamber up the ridge of ‘dune 45’ – approximately 345m from the base for sunrise, and marvel at the changing colours as the sun rises inexorably into the sky.
- Swakopmund on the Atlantic coast is a town quickly emerging as one of Africa’s top adrenaline destinations. Here you can skydive and hot air balloon over the desert or fly along the wild Skeleton Coast NP. Scramble over the dunes in a buggy or 4x4 or go sport fishing. Once you’ve had your adventure fix, learn about the diamond industry first hand with a trip to a local jeweller, visit the town museum which charts the region’s geology, economic development and ethnicity. Visit seal colonies and boat amongst dolphin pods. And in the evening, Swakop’s restaurants offer the best seafood or steak in Namibia.
