Soft Power Education was founded on the idea of tourists from developed countries being able to make a positive impact in the lives of children and landscapes of Africa, particularly Uganda. The original concept came from one woman, Hannah Small, who became inspired by the culture of East Africa whilst working in the region as a tour guide in 1997. She realized that there was an appetite for positive impact tourism coupled with a tremendous amount of goodwill from independent travellers and overland passengers.
Soft Power Education works closely within the local community. Their aim is to develop and improve educational facilities for children mainly in the primary sector. Having built two pre-schools in the area for 120 aids orphans between the ages of 4 & 5 years old there is change in the air. Over the next four years they intend to refurbish, up to Government standard, the 20 Government primary schools within the sub-county of Budondo. And in fact, it's a project which they've already got their teeth stuck into.
