After your overnight flight to Cape Town, spend four days in the Mother City to relax, explore and indulge! Climb Table Mountain, relax on beautiful sandy beaches, visit Robben Island or go shopping - the list is endless!  Hermanus it the place to be from June to November, as the southern right whales come to Walker Bay to mate and calve – experience the best land-based whale watching in the world!

Driving along the Garden Route, you will come across the rare gem that is Hog Hollow – enjoy a boat trip up the Keurbooms River with a sumptuous picnic basket, or bungee jump at Bloukrans if you dare – it’s the highest in the world!  Experience a moving township tour in Port Elizabeth and gain some insight into the apartheid era and how the black people were oppressed. Interact with the locals and hear their heart warming stories of hope.

Your tour ends with the unmistakable highlight that is the Amakhala Game Reserve. Come up close with Africa’s Big 5, either on a game drive with your experienced ranger, or on a leisurely boat cruise along the Bushman’s River. Enjoy the smells and sounds of Africa as you wind down on your memorable holiday.

Day 1: Arrival

This morning you will arrive into Cape Town – collect your hire car and drive to The Vineyard Hotel & Spa, which is situated in the leafy suburb of Newlands, about 20 minutes from the airport and 15 minutes from the city centre. With over 200 years of history within its walls, this deluxe hotel is situated on six acres of attractive landscaped parkland on the banks of the Liesbeeck River. The Garden Cottages are self catering and offers 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, dining and living room and are absolutely ideal for families!


Day 2-4: Cape Town
Day 2-4: Cape Town

Cape Town has much to offer both young and old, and is constantly being referred to as one of the most popular cities in the world. A visit to Table Mountain is an absolute must – from the top you’ll enjoy fabulous views of the city, Atlantic ocean beaches and Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was incarcerated for 18 years. Greenmarket Square is the place to haggle for wooden crafts and other curios, while the V&A Waterfront is the city’s entertainment mecca, offering shops, restaurants, bars, cinemas and the Two Oceans Aquarium. Other highlights include Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, Cape Point and the penguin colony at Boulders Beach. Three full days to explore!


Day 5-6: Hermanus
Day 5-6: Hermanus

Drive to the coastal town of Hermanus, about 1,5 hours from Cape Town. Hermanus offers the best land based whale watching in the world – Southern Right Whales come to Walker Bay from June – November to mate and calve as this bay offers a safe haven for their young. Grootbos Nature Reserve, situated just past Hermanus, is the ecotourism jewel of the Cape and offers accommodation in 5* luxury. Garden Lodge is very child friendly and there is a special children’s programme with fun learning opportunities for the youngsters. Other activities in the region include horse back riding, hiking, whale watching and shark cage diving, if you’re brave enough!
