Suggested Itinerary
Day 1: Entebbe (Uganda)
Arrive Entebbe. On arrival you will be met and driven to the Boma
Guest Lodge in Entebbe. You will have the rest of the day to relax
at the hotel, or explore the excellent local botanical
gardens.
Day 2: Murchison Falls NP (Uganda)
Depart early for the 6-7 hour drive to the Murchison Falls National
Park. Offering one of the best safaris in Uganda, Murchison Falls
is home to lions, elephants, giraffes, hippos and more besides.
Overnight Nile Safari Camp luxury tented camp.
Day 3: Murchison Falls NP (Uganda)
On safari in Murchison Falls. As well as game
drives, today we will take the cruise up the Nile to the foot of
the Falls, a magical trip through some beautiful scenery. The whole
of the Nile River is forced into a gap only 8m
wide - the immense force of the water and the views of the Falls
are awe inspiring.
Day 4: Murchison Falls NP (Uganda)
A short drive brings us to Sambiya River Lodge near the Budongo
Forest. We visit the Kaniyo Pabidi Ecotourist Site - a partnership
with the local community. This is an isolated block of the
Budongo Forest which has never been logged, and is
characterised by its huge mahogany and ironwood trees. This
afternoon you can do a forest walk with guides, looking for
primates and the incredible bird life. Lion, leopard and
buffalo are also present, as well as chimpanzees and six
other species of primate.
Day 5: Kibale Forest (Uganda)
Early start for our longish drive to Kibale Forest. Our destination
is Ndali Lodge, perched on the rim of one of the
spectacular crater lakes in the region. Head down to the lake for
an afternoon swim, and ease off limbs tired from the journey.
Day 6: Kibale Forest
In the morning, you will head to the Kibale Forest HQ and meet up
with your guides. Tracking wild chimpanzees is an
experience limited to very few areas of Central Africa. In the
afternoon you will have the option of heading over to the Bigodi
Swamp to enjoy a walk through the forest with the chance of seeing
several species of primate and excellent bird spotting.
Day 7: Queen Elizabeth National Park
Drive to the Queen Elizabeth National Park, home to waterbuck,
elephant, hippopotamus, lion,
crocodile, buffalo, warthog and hundreds of other
species of animal and bird life. You will game drive to
Mweya Lodge, located in one of the most scenic
spots in Uganda, high up on the peninsula overlooking the
Kazinga Channel. Relax by the pool and enjoy a
boat cruise on the Channel in the late afternoon.
Day 8: Queen Elizabeth NP (Uganda)
After breakfast, you will game drive out of the Mweya Peninsula and
cross the channel to enter the southern section of the park. This
area is known as Ishasha and is famed for its
tree-climbing lions. Your afternoon game drive
will concentrate on looking for these lions and viewing the other
game in this area.
Day 9: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest (Uganda)
Morning game drive before leaving for the Bwindi
Impenetrable Forest. Watch steeply terraced hillsides give
way to glimpses of beautiful mountain lakes and
excited waving children. The view from Buhoma
Homestead gives onto the dense forest canopy, and thin
tendrils of mist hover over the trees. The sense of
mystery that surrounds this area starts to sink in...
Day 10: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest (Uganda)
Despite the beauty of the jungle and mountain scenery, it is the
interaction with the Mountain Gorillas that will
undoubtedly be the highlight of your tour. You will meet with
experienced trackers and guides in the morning,
who will give a safety briefing before heading into the forest. The
track can take anything from 30 minutes to 6 hours so come
prepared. But once you have experienced these wonderfully
playful creatures, you will agree that it is more than
worth every step.
Day 11: Entebbe (Uganda)
A longish driving day back to Entebbe. A stop at the
equator (you are now crossing back into the
northern hemisphere) should reveal an interesting water experiment,
then it is through Kampala to Entebbe and back to the Boma Guest
House.
Day 12: Ngamba Island (Uganda)
A day trip to Ngamba Island - which is a project of the Chimpanzees
Sanctuary and Wildlife Conservation Trust. It provides
orphaned chimpanzees with a secure home to live
out their lives, since a return to their natural habitat is not
possible, while educating visitors and local
communities about their remarkable species and the importance of
conserving their fragile forest habitat.
Return to Entebbe and transfer to the airport for your flight
home...
